The revised styling continues in the cabin as designers installed a new instrument cluster, satin aluminum accents and high gloss finishes.

Now Ford is fighting back.

On the road, Ford claim it'll be better than ever thanks to a new independent rear suspension with continuously controlled damping.

The all-new Focus is roughly the same size as the current vehicle, which has been on sale since 2011, but lighter and more spacious.

Apart from all the high tech, the new Focus has grown into a roomier, more refined and more comfortable auto, boasting an interior with higher quality materials and craftsmanship.

The result will be a significant drop in the number of orderable configurations Ford offers of the 2019 Focus. Production of the third-generation Focus ceased on the 6th of April, 2018.

FORD'S all-new Focus has been unveiled and goes on sale early in September with a big cash boost - all are cheaper than the current model.

There will be five-door hatchback and estate bodystyles, and a new Active version that has a more rugged look. Available with either 148 and 179bhp, the power output is a little off the Fiesta's 197bhp, but they do share a combination of direct and port-injection, integrated exhaust manifolds and a world-first cylinder deactivation system fitted to a three-cylinder engine.

The estate body in the same trim and engine pairing costs from £19,050. In line with's long-standing ethics policy, editors and reviewers don't accept gifts or free trips from automakers. Starting with Style, the specifications rise through Zetec, ST-Line, ST-Line X, Titanium, Titanium X and Vignale.

There is a variety of petrol and diesel engine variations available. The estate is £22,650 and £23,620 respectively. Pricing also wasn't announced.

Alongside the sharp new look of the original 1998 Focus was an impressive dynamic package.

For most markets you're looking at a powertrain lineup consisting of 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-3 and 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engines, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 diesel.

Expect the new Focus to tech it up with high-speed internet, wireless device charging, and the new CoPilot360 system, essentially a package of advanced safety features.

Are there hybrid or electric models?

Ford has started doing it too, with "Active" versions. What will be under the hood when the new Focus reaches the U.S. and Canada is another unknown.

Ford sales fell 6 percent previous year even as overall vehicle sales in China rose 3 percent. All feature new selectable driving modes, and there's an option to add adaptive dampers which can pre-adjust suspension settings for taut handling or to counteract bumps and potholes.

Will I be able to sync seamlessly?

The feature can also be paired with an app that would let owners remotely start or unlock the vehicle or check on its fuel or oil levels.

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) enhanced with stop & go, speed sign recognition and lane-centring for effortlessly negotiating stop-start traffic. There's also full LED lights with a matrix function.
