Now it has announced an end to plans to share user data with several major USA hospitals and organizations, including the American College of Cardiology.

Last year, the social media platform announced that only authorised advertisers will be able to run electoral ads on Facebook or Instagram.

As per a Facebook insider the firm has suspended the company called AggregateIQ because according to them this firm has misused the data of users and for more Facebook is still investigating the whole matter.

Techcrunch reported that Facebook had removed messages from Mark Zuckerberg and other top executives at the company that was sent on Messenger.

With Facebook numbering 2.2. bilion monthly active users as of January 2018, the number of users whose information has been scraped is likely vast. But when it comes to Mark Zuckerberg, company CEO, along with other employees, the platform implements a rather strong privacy standard. Several old messages sent from Zuckerberg to employees on Messenger have been erased. But it may take up to 90 days from the beginning of the deletion process to delete all of the things you've posted, like your photos, status updates or other data stored in backup systems. There is an option which allows messages within a conversation to be deleted. That app vacuumed up information from users who gave the app permission to access their accounts — as well as additional data from their Facebook friends.

The company had already been facing a lot of backlash from users after the Cambridge Analytica scandal happened - affecting close to 87 million users - and now, the news of accessing user inboxes without permission or even a notification deepens the privacy question and what Facebook might be doing to curb flouting of rules. "We have to learn from our mistakes and we need to take action", she said. Over the past month, news reports about improper data usage have led the company to announce a number of new policies, including changes to make privacy tools easier to use and new limitations on information shared with third-party apps and data brokers. "We did so in full compliance with our legal obligations to preserve messages", the company said in a statement.

Had Facebook audited Cambridge Analytica's data holdings, Facebook could have prevented the privacy scandal that has enveloped the company, Sandberg told NBC's Savannah Guthrie during an interview on Friday's "Today" show, part of which aired Thursday night.

The legislation would also require online platforms to make "all reasonable efforts" to ensure that foreign nationals and entities are not buying political ads to influence the U.S. electorate.

Facebook said that it handed over the data required by law. "It still speaks to people feeling like this was a massive breach of trust and that we have a lot of work to do to fix that", he said, seeking to downplay the sis.
