A woman suspected of shooting three people at YouTube headquarters before killing herself was furious with the company because it had stopped paying her for videos she posted on the platform, her father said late Tuesday. The family called police to report a missing person, her brother told CNN, and Aghdam was found sleeping in her auto by police in Mountain View, California, early Tuesday morning.
Aghdam's father, Ismail Aghdam, distributed a written statement to reporters gathered outside the family's Menifee home on Wednesday, expressing shock at the violence. Nevertheless, the family said they tried to warn the police that Nasim was angry with YouTube for suppressing her videos.
Aghdam, who also went by the name Nasime Sabz, was an activist who posted videos on her YouTube channels supporting animal rights and vegan causes, in English, Turkish and Farsi - as well as weird dance and workout clips performed in outlandish costumes. He declined to identify which shooting range, but several San Bruno police officers on Wednesday spent almost two hours at Jackson Arms, a South San Francisco range.
They identified her as a missing person from the San Diego area, so they notified her family and subsequently released her.
Rundell says the father told him after the shooting that she did not like YouTube but did not say whether that was conveyed to police.
Police added that officers spoke with her family twice after finding her. They are believed be interviewing Aghdam's family members about the events that led up to Tuesday afternoon'sshooting at the San Bruno headquarters of YouTube. Don't worry about it, yeah. She then allegedly opened fire on the tech giant's main campus with a legally-owned handgun around lunchtime, before turning the gun on herself. The condition of a 32-year-old woman was serious, while a 27-year-old woman was said to be fair.
Shortly afterward, Trump tweeted: "Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved". But she was not able to walk into the building itself, YouTubesaid in a statement on Wednesday. A slew of videos and social media posts show her disdain for the company's efforts to "demonetize" and filter her quirky vegan, workout, animal rights and dance videos.
ABC Newsreported that three victims suffered gunshot wounds and the fourth hurt their ankle fleeing the scene, according to the San Bruno police chief Ed Barberini. He had even informed the police that her daughter hated YouTube and might go there. Rather, the shooting seemed motivated by her anger at YouTube's "policies and practices", he said. In one video, she sat in front of a screen with a rabbit, as she tried to explain in Persian the differences between vegetarianism and veganism.
Who Will Walk Trump Back From This Trade War?
As trade war costs hit home increasingly as Trump escalates, there's a good chance he will make a concerted effort at negotiation. The further tariffs were being considered "in light of China's unfair retaliation" against earlier United States trade actions.
