Philadelphia 76ers vs. Brooklyn Nets - 4/3/18 NBA Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid celebrates a three-point shot during the second half of an NBA basketball game against the Miami Heat Tuesday Feb. 27 2018 in Miami. The Heat defeated the 76ers 102-101

The 76ers have been on a tear despite the absence of Embiid, pushing their win streak to 12 games with a 115-108 victory at the Pistons.

Even without All-Star big man Joel Embiid, the 76ers (48-30) won their 12th straight and moved into a third-place tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers for third place in the East.

The team, 37-40, occupies the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Brooklyn Nets were in for a long night against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.

The Pistons saw their five-game winning streak snapped and were officially eliminated from playoff contention. They twice sliced the deficit to 10 points in the final two minutes of regulation, then scrapped within nine twice in the last 62 seconds. Jarrett Allen had 5 points and only one field goal attempt. Notable Net killers Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova led the way for Philly to make the comeback, along with super rookie Ben Simmons. His 16.8 potential assists are the fourth-most in the league behind Russell Westbrook, James and John Wall and he assists on more than a third of Philadelphia's baskets (38 percent) compared to 28 percent by James during his rookie year. In other words, they are rolling. Games against Denver, Toronto and Golden State will test the Pacers heavily. Both teams have four games remaining.

Philadelphia 76ers power forward Dario Saric (elbow) is expected to return on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It was the Pistons' first loss (3-1) since Blake Griffin suffered a bone bruise in his ankle.

JJ Redick scored 25 points to lead the in-form Sixers, who won their 12th successive game.

Andre Drummond double-doubled with 13 points and 15 rebounds, but this wasn't a strong showing from him.

Before Thursday's first half came to a close, the Sixers' margin swelled as large as 19 points, and the lead was 65-49 at the break. Their starting backcourt of Simmons and Redick combined for 27 points and seven assists.

The Pistons got down by double digits in the second quarter and had to fight upstream the rest of the way. By the end of the quarter, the Nets were down 22, 93-71, sunk by a 32-point quarter from the Sixers.

Detroit's waning motivation - The Pistons deserve credit for their sustained late push for the playoffs, but with it becoming increasingly clear with every passing game that it will be in vain, their players will surely drop off a little in the remaining five matches.
