UFC Fighter Conor McGregor “Detained” By Police After Barclays Melee

Cops search for Conor McGregor after he smashes UFC bus window, cuts fighter's face

With AP Photos.UFC star Conor McGregor was arraigned on charges of felony criminal mischief charges and misdemeanor assault, menacing and reckless endangerment charges following a backstage melee he sparked at a UFC event in New York City.

McGregor and several other individuals, including teammate Artem Lobov, crashed the Barclays Center following Thursday's UFC 223 Media Day, attacking a van full of fighters that were preparing to return to the UFC fighter hotel in Brooklyn, N.Y.

At least two people were injured when the bus window shattered, forcing them to withdraw from fights at this weekend's UFC 223 event.

CNN could not immediately reach representatives for McGregor or Cowley for comment. Both are due back in court June 14.

McGregor turned himself into police later Thursday in the wake of the incident. I don't think too serious. "He justified it. It was justified to him".

McGregor, looking composed, held his chin up as he walked toward an unmarked police vehicle on Friday morning.

White labelled the incident "the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company". His actions have affected multiple fighters that had spent months preparing for UFC 223, knowing that even a loss would bring home the consolation prize of a sizeable salary for their families.

The rampage saw lightweight Michael Chiesa receive lacerations on his face, causing his fight with Anthony Pettis to be cancelled.

UFC fighter Conor McGregor has been taken to court in handcuffs after being charged with three counts of assault.

The UFC said in a statement: "NYPD was immediately alerted and is now in the process of investigating the situation".

McGregor's group attacked a bus using trash cans, metal barricades and a two-wheeled dolly, White said.

McGregor has not fought in the UFC since November 2016 when he won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden.

Just when it seemed like the UFC had settled on Felder, the New York State Athletic Commission reportedly stepped in again and ruled that they wouldn't sanction him to fight for the title because he wasn't in the top-15 of the UFC's official rankings. Police sought him after the incident, which resulted in a head injury to one of the participants.

Ultimate fighting star Conor McGregor has arrived at the courthouse. McGregor responded on Twitter not long after with a profane tweet that said, in part, you will "strip me of nothing".

The Irishman reportedly pocketed around $100 million for the superfight he lost in August in Las Vegas against ex-welterweight champion boxer Floyd Mayweather.

"This is way bigger than 'are you going to fire the guy?' This is criminal", he said.
