Autism, a neurological disorder which affects 1 in every 68 children worldwide, is characterised by developmental delays and poor communication skills.

Currently, 1 in 68 children in the United States have an autism spectrum disorder.

Executive director of the Kentucky Office of Autism, Amy Cooper-Puckett, said with many mysteries still to solve about autism and continuing controversy over its causes, some people view it in a negative light.

Third Eye, an organisation working for autistic affected, organised the event to create an awareness among the general public about the disorder. Everyone on the autism spectrum is different so it is often not easy to recognise when someone is autistic.

The number of people with autism spectrum disorder has increased significantly in Australia in recent years, with around one in 150 people identified with autism*. "Due to this, we are unable to provide an inclusive education and sensitise other children to the needs of people with autism", Ghosh said. "They only want children who follow the "social norms", Dalwai said.

When she first learned Jacob was autistic, Audrey said she didn't know much about the diagnosis, and the uncertainty made her nervous. There are hidden reasons for their behavior. Many people do not know the real problems of this disease.

Some features of autism may not become noticeable until a change of situation, but the way to find out if you or your child have it if though an extensive test. They also indulge in restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests, or activities (eg: "following greeting rituals, strong attachment to or preoccupation with unusual objects, repeating words or phrases that they hear)", said Dr Nethra Balasubramaniam, counselling psychologist, Fortis Malar Hospital. Our job is to promote their positive behaviors while decreasing unwanted behavior. The Ribbon is the most recognised symbol of the autism community in the world. Around one third of people with autism cannot speak throughout their life and around one third people with autism have intellectual disability. Children with ASD tend to be expressive and interactive, making it hard for teachers to spot them and suggest clinical evaluation.

Tennyson, who is the founding member of the Behavioral Health Division at Personalized Therapy explained how it works. "We do that by building on skills and teaching new skills in areas of their deficiency-whether it be social, behavioral or language skills".
