Here’s How Team Trump Are Responding To That Huge Stormy Daniels Interview

Stormy Daniels' lawyer has filed a motion in U.S. District Court to depose Donald Trump and Michael Cohen, the president's personal lawyer who admitted to paying the adult-film star $130,000 less than two weeks before the 2016 election.

The television interview was the first time Ms Clifford explicitly confirmed the affair since receiving a $130,000 payment from Mr Cohen shortly before the 2016 election in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Tuesday defended President Donald Trump's silence on allegations leveled against him by porn star Stormy Daniels, maintaining that while the President is a "counter-puncher", he doesn't necessarily punch back at every story.

Toobin said key questions would include whether Cohen actually used his own money to pay Daniels and whether Trump knew about it.

The amended complaint also said that the agreement is unenforceable because it was for the illegal goal of circumventing campaign finance laws because the money paid to Daniels was allegedly an illegal in-kind contribution to the Trump campaign.

"It has completely laid the path for many to consistently call me a liar, and it's not OK", she said during her interview, noting that though Cohen never mentioned her name, he denied the claims at a time when only she had spoken out about Daniels' claims.

Daniels and her attorney Michael Avenatti are apparently holding a legal ace up their sleeves, some physical evidence of her encounters with Trump, perhaps photos, text messages, etc.

The motion was "frivolous, untimely and premature on its face", CNN reported, citing, Cohen's spokesman David Schwartz, as saying in a statement. "And President Trump is a particularly vulnerable president", Mezey said.

Reacting to the latest development, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said it is another attempt to compel Cohen, or perhaps even the president, into a deposition under oath.

Clifford sued the president on March 6, arguing that the nondisclosure agreement she said was created to hide the affair is invalid because the president never signed it. "We expect this any day", he tweeted.

The motion, which would also require Mr Trump's attorney to give evidence under oath, will add pressure on the USA leader over his alleged sexual encounter with the adult film star years ago. Trump married his current wife, Melania Trump, in 2005, and their son, Barron, was born in 2006.

As the fallout over her 60 Minutes interview rocks the White House, photographers found her in high spirits at a Tex-Mex bar in Dallas with friends Monday night.

As precedent, the motion references the fact that Bill Clinton was deposed while in office in 1998 during the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit.

More than 22 million Americans tuned in on Sunday night to hear Ms Daniels allege she was threatened by a stranger in a auto park in 2011 to "leave Trump alone".

"The only one who has been inconsistent is the one making the claims".
