Australia captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner have been banned for 12 months

Unfortunately for Warner, he's also at the center of an explosive cheating scandal that's rocked the sport at its highest level of play in numerous countries around the world.

Last Saturday Cricket Australia found a flaming bag of the stuff on its doorstep and, just like the headteacher in the high school movie, decided the best way to put it out was to stamp right down on it. CA has banned Steve Smith and David Warner from all state and global cricket for a year, Cameron Bancroft for nine months, and ordered all three to do 100 hours of community service.

"I'm extremely disappointed and regret my actions, I'm sorry to those people who have looked up to me in the cricket world and especially the kids". It is not just the fans and your coach to whom you have to answer. What is his net worth?

The ACA, which represents professional first-class cricketers, called for a proposed review into Australia's cricketing culture to be fully independent and extend to the CA's response to the scandal.

The sanction by Cricket Australians means Smith and Warner are prohibited from playing worldwide or domestic cricket in Australia for 12 months.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has barred both Warner and Smith to play in the Indian Premier League 2018.

Sydney Sky Sports Radio radio breakfast host Terry Kennedy says the Australian ball tampering saga has finished David Warner's career for the national team. He's now ranked as the sixth-best Test batsman in the world and third-best batsman in ODI format.

Australian coach Darren "Boof" Lehmann cited the Black Caps' approach when asked how his team needed to change its approach in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.

Wicketkeeper Tim Paine will take over as Australian captain for the final Test in South Africa.

Smith is only 28 years old and at 31, Warner is still young for a batsman.

He was born on October 27, 1986. The deal, at the time of signing, was worth United States dollars 6-7 million, reports suggest.

"We're talking about one of the good guys in Australian cricket", he continued.

He argued the three players "made a grave mistake but they are not bad people".

However former England captain Michael Vaughan took aim at David Warner for refusing to front up in person, saying: "2 out of the 3 players fronting up to the media".

The trio are already beginning to pay a financial price for their actions though and on Thursday, sportswear manufacturer Asics dumped Warner and Bancroft as brand ambassadors, following in the footsteps of electronics giant LG, which did not renew its deal with Warner the previous day.

"My punishment would have been to miss the fourth Test match, a huge fine, and be sacked as captain and vice-captain".

Australia was "deluded", cricket analyst Simon Hughes told the BBC.

Cameron Bancroft, who was seen scraping the ball with a yellow object, was suspended from global cricket for a nine-month period.

Bancroft was caught on TV cameras rubbing the ball with sandpaper during the Cape Town Test against South Africa at the weekend. They soon confessed to cheating, with Warner himself reportedly devising the plan.

Cameron Bancroft was also praised earlier for acknowledging his role in the saga.

Warner also flew into Sydney but was not expected to face the media after he suggested in his message that he intends to lie low for immediate future.
