"It is a big game for us", he said on Thursday. Tim has given us a sniff and the opportunity to bowl well. "Hats off to Rabada, he out-bowled us today".

After dismissing Steve Smith on Friday in Port Elizabeth, Rabada appeared to intentionally bump into the Australia captain with his shoulder during his follow-through.

Rabada was reported for an incident that happened in the eighth over of India's innings. His actions didn't go down well the standing umpires who later charged the pacer with a Level 2 code of conduct breach.

South Africa made one change‚ bringing in Lungi Ngidi to replace Morne Morkel in the starting lineup.

Rabada completed a fine day's performance coming in as the nightwatchman and scoring an unbeaten 17 runs off 14 balls.

The morning had started with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft looking set to make it through the opening session unscathed, but their 98-run stand ended on the stroke of lunch when Bancroft edged an outswinger behind off Philander for 38. Privately Rabada has insisted that he was running towards AB de Villiers in the slips - because de Villiers had predicted that Rabada would take Smith's wicket - at the time of the incident. Asked why De Kock had challenged a level one charge, which resulted in a 25 percent fine and one demerit point, while Warner had not contested his punishment, Du Plessis said it was about getting a point across to the officials.

".Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its laws, but also within the spirit of the game".

Sutherland said he supported the sanctions and commended match referee Jeff Crowe for his handling of the "difficult situation".

"I'm pleased with Davey that he stuck his hand up, said he made a mistake and he could handle things better", Smith said.

"I think it (the ball) will move around a bit".

Rabada took three of his wickets in an over and removed Australian batsmen on the last ball before tea and first ball after it to suddenly turn the tide in the home team's favor. He scored his runs off 100 balls with nine fours.

Shaun Marsh then joined captain Steve Smith and the pair looked to be getting matters back on track for the visitors with a partnership of 44 for the fourth wicket until Rabada was let loose among them.

The express paceman removed both Marsh brothers in his next over, lifting the Proteas' hopes of a series-levelling victory at tea in Port Elizabeth on Friday (Saturday morning NZ Time).
