SpaceX blasts its first broadband satellites into orbit
23 Febrero 2018, 10:59 | Benedicto Grullon
GovSat-1 Mission | SpaceX
The launch was primarily created to bring the PAZ satellite to orbit (which was deployed as planned into a low Earth, sun-synchronous polar orbit), a satellite for a Spanish customer that's created to provide geocommunications and radar imaging for both government and private commercial customers. Musk admitted shortly after launch that the ship failed to catch the Falcon 9 cone by "a few hundred meters".
SpaceX still has to work out finances and other technical details, but the Starlink project could be a boom to Elon Musk's ambitious goals.
The test consists of a full simulation of blast off - without the payload - and sees all engines fired for around 3.5 to 7 seconds. Paz was delivered to its desired orbit as well, Musk said.
PAZ also features a sophisticated Automatic Identification System (AIS), simultaneously combining for the first time ship AIS signals and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery, increasing the monitoring capacities of the maritime domain worldwide.
In August 2017 the rocket's first stage booster launched the satellite Formosat-5 into orbit. But in its effort to reuse as much of a rocket as possible, SpaceX attempted to recover one-half of the rocket's payload fairing - a cone-like structure that protects satellites, equipment, food and apparently Telsa Roadsters as they make their way to orbit and beyond. SpaceX has delayed the launch to no earlier than February 22. Mr. Steven, by the way, is a giant boat with a net. Payload and vehicle remain healthy. Falcon 9's first stage booster for this mission previously supported the Formosat-5 mission in August of previous year, states SpaceX. The rocket's payload was a cherry-red 2008 Tesla Roadster electric auto with a mannequin wearing one of SpaceX's spacesuits. The launch, which was previously scheduled for Wednesday, was scrubbed minutes before the set time due to weather conditions.
The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 6:17 a.m. from the base near Santa Barbara. "Postponing launch to tomorrow, assuming winds are better then".
It'll take years for the full network to go into operation, and SpaceX appears to be scaling back its original plan of being an ISP for everyone.
The company launched two experimental satellites today (Feb. 22) created to help lay the foundation for Starlink, a network that, if all goes according to plan, will consist of thousands of spacecraft providing broadband internet service to people around the world. According to the plan, from 2019 to 2024 SpaceX will orbit 4425 such satellites for Internet distribution.
Musk and SpaceX have said little about their plan since announcing it in 2015.
Canada play for gold
The score, a 2-3 loss for Canada, was the very first Olympic women's hockey final to go into a shootout. Counting Thursday's Pyeongchang finale, five of those will have been against the United States.

So far they have managed to get by with solid goaltending and hard work from a roster of mostly European-based players. Norway's Ragnhild Mowinckel scored a +0.09 from the leading score of 1:39.22 from Italy ( Sofia Goggia ).

Unfortunately for Vonn, she had the disadvantage of racing first and nearly swerved off the course, but lost valuable time . This season she has moved up the ranks in downhill racing, while continuing to dominate in her specialist slalom event .
