Why Did Elon Musk Send a Tesla into Space?

According to Musk, the company lost $675.4 million in the three months ending on Dec. 31, 2017.

The inaugural launch and test flight was broadcast live online. But it fell woefully short on the Model 3, which went into production in July.

Research labs have been hard at work designing new ways to store data, particularly in cold storage avenues where data does not necessarily need to be read or written quickly.

Tesla had originally aimed to be making 5,000 Model 3 cars per week by the end of 2017, but the company has changed that deadline twice. An artificial pancreas would again follow the sense, think, act paradigm by measuring blood glucose levels (sense), using a clinical model of the patient to compute an insulin dose (think), and then deliver the computed dose (act). We really do value the team dynamic and the ideas that other people bring to the table.

Tuesday's Falcon Heavy launch made history, not only becoming the highest-capacity rocket platform since the Saturn V but accomplishing the first double autonomous booster landing. In the broom handle analogy, changing the intensity and orientation of the engines corresponds to moving your hand to keep the broom handle upright. But then SpaceX sent Musk's car to Mars.

In the official entry on "Tesla Roadster (AKA: Starman)", NASA describes the car as "a standard Tesla Roadster automobile and a spacesuit-wearing mannequin nicknamed 'Starman'". David Bowie's "Life on Mars" was on the stereo and "Don't Panic" - a reference to Musk's beloved "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" - was on the dashboard screen. That's an increase of 35 percent over 2016.

March 2000 - X.com merges with Confinity, and is renamed PayPal in 2001.

Tesla was founded in 2003.

The question here in Florida is: Whats next? Early concepts of the "car" included an 8,000-pound, 21-foot-long vehicle that had six wheels. You'd thus expect Tesla to post another few years of losses before breaking back into profits.

Others believe that the rocket's boosters, two of which reentered the Earth's atmosphere and landed safely, were responsible. What started with a sports car could lead, to bases on the moon, missions to Mars and ships large enough to permit genuine manned exploration missions well beyond Earth's orbit. If he was to somehow land it back on Earth soon, it could probably hit the road, but that is highly unlikely given the Tesla and SpaceX CEO's fascination with the thought of his electric machine traversing the vast expanse of space for possibly billions of years. The company's aims are just far bigger now. If Tesla doesn't meet those goals, Musk won't get paid.

Tesla says it has a plan, in particular a new automated battery assembly line.

The Falcon Heavy launch precedes a string of events expected to bolster the region's space industry.

I'm not a fan of lionizing corporate tech geniuses.
