USA officials have been urging South Korea to be cautious in its rapprochement with the North - a point Pence drilled home in private meetings with Moon on Thursday.
Pence and the North Korean delegation, who both attended the Games opening ceremony, had no contact with each other. Moon on Saturday hosted Kim Yo Jong and other North Korean officials over lunch at the Blue House, Seoul's presidential palace.
Pyongyang conducted its largest nuclear test a year ago and in November tested its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile that experts said has the range to reach anywhere in the United States. All beamed. As they shook hands, the North and South Koreans spoke briefly.
Duyeon Kim, a senior visiting fellow with the Seoul-based Korean Peninsula Future Forum, said it's possible to pursue engagement with the North while maintaining the maximum pressure campaign but noted Moon will need to sell the idea to Washington.
It would be the first summit in more than a decade between Korean leaders.
Moon did not appear until the fifth paragraph: "Attending it were President Moon Jae In and personages of political and social circles of south Korea".
On Friday, hours before the opening ceremony, Pence met with four North Korea defectors and visited the Cheonan Memorial, which honors the 46 South Korean sailors killed in a 2010 torpedo attack attributed to Pyongyang.
"Spectators broke into cheers and applause" when the North and South Korean athletes entered the arena together behind a unification flag, it added.
The North Korean issue is especially emotional in South Korea because the peninsula, which had been one country for thousands of years, was arbitrarily cut in half at the end of World War II, in what was supposed to be a temporary division.
Chang said after North Korean troops captured her father's hometown, soldiers forced her to use her musical skills and play communist songs. Pence also heard from North Korean defectors.
The United States has repeatedly pressed China, North Korea's most significant trading partner and main ally, to do more to rein in Pyongyang's nuclear and missile ambitions.
The inter-Korean Olympic cooperation includes a joint women's ice hockey team that will compete in the games.
While Pence was non-committal about the possibly of meeting with the North Koreans at the Olympics, the delegation from Pyongyang indicated that it was not willing to hold any talks with the Americans.
Anti-North Korean protesters wave flags and shout slogans as a ferry carrying a North Korean art troupe for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games approaches the port of Mukho in Donghae on February 6, 2018. "For the success of the PyeongChang Olympic Games, I will work hard to attract attention and bring publicity to the event and as a former skater, to create an environment where athletes can give their best performances".
In proportion to the closeness between the two Korean nations, however, nervousness of some of the key players of the alliance formed against North Korea seems to be growing, judging by simple human reactions. A big one could be a demand to cease the U.S.
An analysis of photos of the meeting showed that the emblem was the official state symbol of North Korea.

The roughly two-ton Roadster was about about 290,000 miles away, or a distance roughly 50,000 miles beyond the orbit of the moon . Prototypes use around 2,500 watts, enough to light 40 incandescent light bulbs. "We're going to productize the factory".
Pence avoids Kim Jong-un's sister at Olympics
Her handshake with the South's president at the start of the opening ceremony was an unexpected show of unity between old foes. Much about Kim Yo Jong is shrouded in mystery, as the Kim dynasty reveals very little publicly, experts say.

So this is for her. "We said it right after the game: This is the start of a dynasty, and that's what we're going to do". Cops danced in the streets and directed chants instead of traffic and Eagles center Jason Kelce had some fun on live TV.
