WASHINGTON DC- FEBRUARY 01 President Donald Trump speaks at the Republican National Committee winter meeting at the Trump International Hotel

House Intelligence is one of three congressional committees investigating Russian Federation and the 2016 USA election, after US intelligence agencies found that Russian Federation attempted to influence the campaign on Trump's behalf.

The FBI was monitoring former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page when he said he spoke with White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon in January of 2017, according to a new report by Politico.

Democrats on the House intelligence committee claim that Republicans cherry-picked evidence. Trump should make it public at once, although we have little hope that he will. Reminder: the referral memo identified a previously undisclosed memo by Steele that derives, you might say, from a tangled Clintonian web (see also the Wall Street Journal editorial quoted below).

A White House spokesperson was not available to comment on Wednesday.

Since it has appeared for quite some time now that there is no collusion, the only thing left for Mueller to investigate is Trump's "obstruction of justice", i.e. Trump being pissed off that his time is being wasted. Schiff, on the other hand, seems to be laying the groundwork to keep the mystery surrounding his counter-argument alive-and to undermine the Republican claim that Memo-gate is all about transparency. Perhaps members of both houses should demand a "redo".

After it was released on his orders February 2, President Trump tweeted it "totally" vindicated him.

Schiff said the panel is in rare bipartisan agreement that the terms offered are unacceptable.

Schiff said that neither Bannon nor Lewandowski had given "legitimate" reasons for refusing to appear, and that they were expected to return.

Even if Trump decides to release the Democrats' memo, it will be nearly a week after the GOP document set the agenda.

Trump has been an ardent public supporter of our nation's law enforcement organizations.

Gowdy said the initial FISA memo does demand accountability at the FBI, but he distanced himself from the president's suggestion that the document undercuts special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, reiterating his confidence in the majority of the men and women who serve at the FBI and DOJ.

Nunes didn't care. He and other Republicans, joined by Russian bots and right-wing talking heads, spent weeks lobbying to #ReleasetheMemo.

While each of us can tell stories about individual members of Congress trying to use intelligence for political purposes, this series of events is wholly different. "The Papadopoulos information triggered the opening of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016 by FBI agent Pete Strzok".

A Republican lawmaker anonymously pushed the conspiracy theory about the Democratic memo to the Washington Examiner, ostensibly in an effort to drum up skepticism about that memo.

So what do you think of the memo now that it has been released?

The latest details, which detail alleged spy abuses, are likely to complicate efforts by Democratic leaders to rebut the allegations and keep the public focused on the continuing investigation into claims the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

More publicly on Tuesday, Kelly told reporters that he was "not leaning toward" releasing the memo in its original form. He said he was anxious about "political redactions...."

He added that his initial conclusion is that the Democratic version is "not as clean a memo as the first one".

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday that Christopher Steele's dossier on Donald Trump was "political garbage" and almost completely unverified.

At that time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation noted that it had suspended its relationship with Mr. Steele in October 2016 because of Steele's "unauthorized disclosure of information to the press".

Separately, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Tuesday that the USA isn't pursuing sanctions against Russian government debt, after issuing a report that concluded such a move would risk widespread financial turmoil.
