Kane bagged a brace against Everton to put his side on the front seat after Korean ace Son Heung-Min opened the scoring in the first half.

Hardly for the first time, Heung-Min Son delivered yet another outstanding performance while keeping up a goal record which is none too shabby, either.

Kane's 98 Premier League goals came in just 135 games for the club, 101 fewer than it took Sheringham to reach 97.

According to BBC, Christian Eriksen smashed in a fourth from the edge of the penalty area late on after a fine backheel from Dele Alli. They move onto 44 points, level with fourth-placed Liverpool, who take on Manchester City at Anfield tomorrow.

The Englishman doubled his tally for the afternoon on 59 minutes and while it was the prettiest goal he will score, it was the crucial record-breaker to make him Spurs' most prolific player in the Premier League era.

Southampton drew 2-2 at Watford after taking a 2-0 lead but Abdoulaye Doucoure sent the ball into the net with his right hand to score Watford's equaliser in the 90th minute.

"It was a shock second-half performance".

Jimmy Greaves' still holds Tottenham's all-time goals record of 266 goals.

The visitors thought they had broken the deadlock in the 22nd minute when Rooney diverted Tosun's header past Hugo Lloris from close range but celebrations were cut short by the offside flag.

He spun on a dime in the 47th minute to leave his mark in the dust and smartly, if not inadvertently, whipped the ball into Kane's path, who was left with the easiest of tap ins.

However, Everton were managed by Ronald Koeman for that fixture and things have since improved under the guidance of Sam Allardyce, with the Toffees putting together an unbeaten run in his first seven games in charge.

Allardyce's side are now winless in their last five Premier League games and have lost their last three.

The woodwork denied Son a second as he struck the left-hand post, but Tottenham were soon celebrating again as Kane surpassed Sheringham by meeting Eric Dier's curling delivery with a scruffy finish into the ground that looped over Pickford.

The England striker has four goals in his last two meetings with the Blues and the league's top scorer will fancy his chances to add to his already impressive 18 goals on Saturday evening.

"Harry Kane is such a talented player, so professional and I am very happy", Pochettino told BT Sport.
