A Joe Arpaio Run in Arizona Could Give Democrats the Senate
As befitting a man of his particular interests, he'll run as a Republican.
During the eight years that Barack Obama was in office, one of the leading voices pushing the debunked conspiracy theory of "birtherism" was former Arizona Sheriff #Joe Arpaio.
Arpaio, a polarizing figure who gained notoriety for racially profiling Latinos, contradicted his own words from a day earlier.
As for that pesky criminal contempt conviction, Arpaio dismissed it as a no-big-deal misdemeanor rooted in cheap partisan politics. The race is already hotly contested and widely followed across the country. He also led a crackdown on illegal immigration. The margin of error is +/- 4.36%.
He accused the sheriff of being "part of a campaign to delegitimize a president of the United States".
The Republican senatorial candidate, known for his provocative approach to combatting illegal immigration, continues to be against amnesty policies and described how he would allow Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals to return to the U.S. What's wrong with that? Then Trump offered the pardon last summer.
Arpaio takes an even more notable jump when considering hypothetical endorsements that candidates may receive. But the corruption and sexual-misconduct allegations against Moore became common knowledge only after he had won the primary. Despite age, logic, or controversy, it isn't easy getting rid of people like former Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
CNN portrayed President Trump as the "biggest fanner of the birther flame" and noted that Trump said in 2016 he believes Obama was born in Hawaii. Often, they did not. Simple traffic violations were enough to unleash the enquiries, and the vitriol of U. S. District Judge Susan Bolton.
Arpaio also scoffed at what he called "civil-rights crap".
"I'm not going down there to spend 20 years as a senator", he said.
"I grew up in Maricopa County". "Nobody will talk about it". "Joe Arpaio was convicted".
Sheriff Joe Arpaio (R) of Maricopa County, Arizona endorses Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump prior to a rally on January 26, 2016 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She appears poised to formally enter the race soon.
"You're the guy that said I would never run for office", the sheriff said at the start of our phone interview Tuesday.
He told WABC radio hosts, Rita Cosby and Curtis Sliwa in a recent interview that he had proof that Obama's birth certificate was fraudulent.
