President Donald Trump signed a proclamation Friday declaring Martin Luther King Jr.

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters poured her heart out in a long statement condemning Donald Trump's "ill informed and deplorable" comments on immigration.

Dodging the questions, the President said goodbye to his guests and rushed out of the room.

"Thousands of immigrant children woke up this morning to find that [the president], the leader of the free world, has given license to have them be bullied and taunted across this country", she said.

"Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people", Shah said.

Norway Prime Minister Erna Solberg visited the White House Wednesday. "Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country".

"Mr. Trump spits on the assassination of this black American icon, as well as on a whole generation of young people, black and white, who gave their lives in the civil rights movement", he said.

In Senegal's capital Dakar, administrator Idrissa Fall said "we can not really say that he (Trump) is wrong".

US politicians from both parties condemned Mr Trump, with Mia Love, the Republican Representative and daughter of Haitian immigrants, saying the comments were "unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation's values".

Now, of course, Cotton and Perdue saying they "do not recall" is not exactly a strong rebuke of Durbin or reports of the meeting, as it leaves open the possibility that those words were said and they just didn't hear them. The White House denied Trump ever uttered those words.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) confirmed that he said his "piece" to President Trump in an Oval Office meeting Thursday at which the commander in chief allegedly derided immigrants from "shithole" countries. "His history of racism is very well documented but I felt because I didn't know him that well and he had so many people normalizing his behavior, this is just how he talks", Hostin said.

The remarks were allegedly made when lawmakers visited him on Thursday to discuss a bipartisan proposal that would impose new restrictions on immigration but protect the so-called "Dreamers" - hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children - from deportation. "Do we need more Haitians?'" Trump took particular issue with the characterization of his comments on Haiti.

Since taking office a year ago, Trump has pursued controversial policies aimed at curbing illegal immigration into the United States as part of a hard-line "America First" agenda.

"Sorry, but there is no other word one can use but "racist", he told reporters.

However Juba businesswoman Jenny Jore, 31, told AFP that Mr Trump's remarks were "on point".

In a statement it said it had asked the USA government, through its ambassador, to "clarify" if the derogatory remark also applied to Botswana given that there were Botswana nationals living in the United States and others who wished to go there.

The reactions to Trump's comments also underscored the different ways that people approach his presidency.

Yves-Richard Blanc was born in Haiti and came to the United States at the age of 8.

Colville also expressed concern for previous remarks by Trump that had what he called racial undertones, including campaign events in which the then-candidate had called Mexican immigrants criminals and rapists, and Trump's response past year to a white supremacist march saying that "both sides" deserved blame.
