Muslim World Rallies in Protest Against Trump's Jerusalem Move
The exchange of missile fire marked an escalation of violence in the wake of the President Donald Trump's decision to formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and announce plans to move the U.S. embassy there.
It said it would seek a UN Security Council resolution rejecting the US move. It was done out of personal revenge against Prime Minister Netanyahu and an act of pique by the outgoing president.
Around 2,000 people later gathered in the plaza around the mosque, chanting: "With our soul and blood, we will defend Al Aqsa and Jerusalem".
"This is the last thing we need from Mr. Trump", Salahab said. Along the Gaza-Israel border, one Palestinian was killed. It was President Trump who made it more feasible again.
In the past, Israel has imposed age restrictions at Jerusalem's Temple Mount compound where violence often erupts during tense times.
It carries zero practical meaning, apart from the fact that the US is abandoning a fine piece of real estate in Tel Aviv.
"We have to acquire a site, we have to develop building plans, construction plans, as you point out, ensure we get the authorizations - although I do not anticipate any difficulties getting those authorizations". The resolution applied equally to the very heart of Israel.
The Manhattan protests were peaceful.
The ambassadors asked the United States to bring forward detailed proposals for an Israel-Palestinian settlement as Washington claims to be committed to peace in the region. One car drove by with a Palestinian flag draped over the hood. But he did not. So, the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the U.S. decision and calls on the international community and leading states particularly the Islamic countries to step into the fray and stop the implementation of the U.S. decision because it only serves the Zionist regime's interests.
After the prayers Iranians took to the streets of Tehran and other cities to protest against Trump's decision, calling for "death" to Israel and the United States and burning their flags.
Palestinian mourners carry the body of Mahmoud al-Masri, a 30-year-old Palestinian man who was killed the previous day in clashes with Israeli troops, during his funeral in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, on December 9, 2017. "All the indications are that the Americans have nothing to worry about".
On Friday, Hamas called on the Palestinian public to confront IDF soldiers and Israeli settlers across the West Bank in demonstrations on Saturday. No future president can undo this pernicious agreement, since a veto not cast can never be retroactively cast. His personal physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, wrote a letter declaring that Trump "will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency". To hell with the actual people of this region, whose lives are being turned upside down - or even sacrificed - for the sake of vacuous pseudo-manifestos. The Palestinian Authority condemned the move, which further cemented Israeli control over a city Palestinians regard as their own capital.
The Israeli military said it intercepted one of at least two projectiles fired from Gaza.
Any final decision on the status of Jerusalem will depend on negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, US secretary of state Rex Tillerson said on Friday, appearing to add nuance to President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
