Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) Is Officially Raising Prices In The US

Netflix is raising its prices for US subscribers

Netflix is offering something even scarier than the new Stranger Things season this October: higher prices for its most popular subscription plan. The premium plan is due for a larger increase, going from $11.99 per month to $13.99.

According to Mashable the new prices will take effect in November with subscribers receiving at least 30 days notice starting on October 19. Although the price increase isn't that much per customer, it adds up over Netflix's 104 million subscribers. That's the only plan that will not see a price jump from its $7.99/month. With the growing popularity of Netflix original content, and ahead of what is expected to be a big quarter, the streaming giant has announced that USA subscriber base can expect a price increase.

Despite the Netflix price increase, the company is still offering its streaming service cheaper than rivals.

For new subscribers, the changes began immediately, as of Thursday, Oct. 5.

Netflix has announced that as of next month you're subscription is likely to be a bit more expensive. The standard tier we just mentioned gets a $1 increase.

Those who are currently on the $9.99 plan will now have to add one more dollar and pay $10.99 per month.

It's interesting to also note that Disney will be removing their content from the streaming service in 2018, perhaps they're trying to make some more money while they can. This increase will only happen in the United States market, and there's no news yet if they will also apply this to other markets around the globe.

Does Netflix still represent great value to you?

Given the huge amount of competition in streaming, small but steady price hikes for customers are basically a given. Let us know in the comments section below!
