No. 17 Louisville at No. 24 NC State: Time, TV channel, how to watch live stream online
It was a rough film session for North Carolina State last season after the team played Louisville, as Dave Doeren's coaching staff had to watch the eventual Heisman Trophy victor race up and down the field on the Wolfpack's defense in a blowout to capture a key ACC win.
We certainly should not get too far ahead of ourselves in forecasting the rest of the season for NC State, but the Wolfpack already have victories against both Louisville and Florida State.
Doeren's N.C. State squad beat the Cardinals 39-25 to improve to 5-1 and 3-0 in conference play. We've been through a lot since I've been here and even before I got here.
"I told our team it was coming", Doeren said.
"They don't want to be denied what they feel is theirs right now", Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren said.
That sets up the first matchup of ranked teams at Carter-Finley Stadium since 2000 - Philip Rivers' freshman year, when the 21st-ranked Wolfpack were routed by No. 6 Florida State. "Honestly, I couldn't stop thinking about it until we played them again". It's a lot of fun.
Lamar Jackson totaled 427 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to avoid Louisville's second ACC loss of the season.
With less than 30 seconds before halftime, Louisville was able to get into field goal range after the Wolfpack touchdown and made a 28-yard field goal to cut the lead to seven.
"We just feed off each other's energy", Harmon said. "I've got to do a better job with our coaches, do a better job with our players and get back on the right track". He also found each of his talented receivers for big plays.
After two non-conference routs in which it outscored opponents 97-13, Louisville and Heisman Trophy victor Lamar Jackson aim to get back into the ACC race.
Eurndraus Bryant led the Pack in sacks with two while Bradley Chubb and Shawn Boone each reached Jackson twice in the pocket.
"The sky is the limit for this team", Chubb said. "If we gave Ryan enough time", he said on the field, in the aftermath, "we knew he would tear their secondary apart". It's just good to see things come to fruition. "He can make video game like plays, so we have to run to the ball and limit that as much as possible". The computer is taking Louisville to cover the spread, and the over on the point total.
When: 5 p.m. Thursday, Pacific time.
WR Kelvin Harmon went toe-to-toe with one of the league's top cornerbacks, Jaire Alexander, and recorded 133 yards, including one lovely third-down catch to set up a touchdown.
On second down and with six yards to go from their own 13-yard line, the Wolfpack's Jaylen Samuels ran a simple stick route and slipped past the defense before breaking it open 79 yards to the Louisville 8-yard line. His block of a Louisville extra-point try kept the N.C. State to seven points at 32-25 with 4:10 remaining.
