Honor 9i Smartphone with 4 Cameras Launched in India for Rs. 17999 via Flipkart
At an event in India Honor has pulled the wraps from its latest offering, the Honor 9i.
The 9i seems to be closer to Honor's own higher-priced Honor 8 Pro. Before that this is the Honor flagship of the year. It has two cameras at the front and two cameras at the back. This is expensive than what most people would probably think of it as there are other phones with similar features (minus the cameras) that exist at nearly half the price. For starters, this is the first device from the company to sport an 18:9 FullView display. So, in India, they unveiled this handset as the Honor 9i.
The design is not something groundbreaking or revolutionary but looks premium and elegant.
Talking of the optical apparatus, a 16 MP + 2 MP dual camera lies at the back while a 13 MP + 2 MP unit sits at the front.
This isn't the first phone ever to come out with four cameras. Owing to very thin bezels, the phone measures just about a standard 5.5-inch smartphone. The different aspect ratio results in what's called FHD+ resolution which is 1080x2160 pixels. It has all the requisite sensors on board, with a micro USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Hardware wise, the Honor 9i is fuelled by Huawei's in-house octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset, which is mated with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The 4G VoLTE smartphone also supports dual SIM cards, OTG connections via microUSB slot.
Honor has managed to cram in a 3340mAh battery which is good considering its thickness. Huawei did mention that the processor is optimised for better battery life under regular usage scenarios during the launch which we'll be eager to test during our review.
Another plus point is the introduction of OnePlus 5-like gesture shortcuts. On the front, the smartphone houses an another dual front-facing camera setup, which is the main highlight of this device. While I am yet to test the phone extensively (that will have to wait for the full review), I experienced a few lags and stutters during the 2 days I have used the phone. The NRA's strategic ploy on bump stocks
