Sweden, UK Call For Urgent UN Security Council Meeting

The number of Rohingya Muslims fleeing violence in Myanmar has risen to nearly 400,000.

The UN refugee agency said Friday it was appealing for $30 million (25 million euros) for the emergency humanitarian aid for Rohingya in Bangladesh.

The U.N. director added that the international community is "not yet doing enough" to ease the crisis. "We hope that the Government of India gives shelter, an opportunity to live a respectful life and a future to their children, because the Constitution gives the Right to Equality and the Right to Life, not only to its Indian citizens, but to all refugees as well", Owaisi told the gathering.

Following the discussions, the council "expressed concern about reports of excessive violence during the security operations and called for immediate steps to end the violence in Rakhine, de-escalate the situation, re-establish law and order, ensure the protection of civilians. and resolve the refugee problem".

On the other hand, other communities have also starting contributing for the relief of these Rohingya refugees.

Charu Lata Hogg is an associate fellow of the Asia program at Chatham House, an independent foreign affairs think tank based in London.

"We have made purchases for a week and we are planning to continue the relief effort for a longer time", Amarpreet said.

Aid agencies are increasing assistance operations in response to the ever-worsening crisis.

Around three hundred and eighty thousand Rohingya have fled Myanmar since violence erupted last month in Rakhine State.

"Bangladesh strongly protested the instances of violation of her air space by Myanmar military drones and helicopter on 10, 12 and 14 September 2017", the ministry said in a statement.

Many say they have had details - their names and the villages they are from - taken at the border.

The rights group believed that the new target of the army is Maungdaw district and its neighboring villages.

"The humanitarian situation is catastrophic". Myanmar says refugees can return if they are citizens, but most Rohingya are stateless despite having lived in Myanmar for generations.
