Irma makes the final approach into Florida
With Hurricane Jose behind Irma, for the first time in recorded history, there were two hurricanes with 150 miles per hour wind speeds in the Atlantic at the same time.
FPL chose to shut only one of the two reactors at its Turkey Point nuclear plant on Saturday because the storm track shifted, and plans to leave both reactors at the St. Lucie plant in service because hurricane force winds are no longer expected to hit the sites.
Irma is plowing into Georgia and toward other parts of the Deep South - Alabama, Tennessee and the Carolinas.

A weakening but still potent Irma lashed Florida's Gulf Coast with tree-bending winds, pounding rain and surging surf since making landfall yesterday. As many as 6 million people were expected to leave the Sunshine State to get out of Irma's path.
Irma prompted the largest evacuation in USA history of 7 million residents, or 30%, of Florida's population, according to Accuweather.
