Arsene Wenger defends Alexis Sanchez after being booed

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck celebrates scoring the opening goal with team-mates during the English Premier League football match between Arsenal and Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium in London

After defeats against Stoke City and Liverpool, Arsenal started brightly and led inside six minutes when Welbeck headed in, before Alexandre Lacazette fired home a superb second goal after neat link-up play with the England forward.

The 35-year-old Czech Republic worldwide believes the Portuguese tactician's killer instinct and his win at all costs mentality inspire teams to do well, and that is something that is missing from Wenger's management.

Arsenal are said to have agreed a deal in principle to sign summer target Thomas Lemar in the January transfer window.

Arsenal play hosts to Bournemouth on Saturday in what is a must-win game following a dismal start to the season.

He almost completed a hat trick, but his chip over Asmir Begovic went just wide of the far post. "He gets stronger and stronger".

"I have no doubt about Alexis" mind and mentality that people question, ' said Wenger ahead of tomorrow's home game with Bournemouth.

Welbeck's second goal was praised by manager Arsene Wenger and Welbeck reckons his preparations have allowed him to hit the ground running this year. "He's a guy who has a physical potential that's huge as well".

Danny Welbeck started in place of Alexis Sanchez, who had to travel back to London from worldwide duty with Chile.

The Chile worldwide saw his deadline day move to Manchester City collapse after Arsenal failed to convince Thomas Lemar to succeed Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium.

A majority of the crowd backed the Chile worldwide, however, and Wenger insisted the boos had not affected him. I don't know why [people booed].

Cech worked with the Portuguese at Chelsea and says his demanding approach helped make the side better. I didn't see what I wanted to see today.

"The interpretation of the attitudes is always very unsafe".

The Gunners came into the game on the back of two costly defeats by Stoke and Liverpool, but made the flawless start when Welbeck headed them in front after six minutes.

Continuing his retaliation, the long-serving Arsenal manager said, "We have to take a distance with that as well, focus on our performance and not be dragged into any animosity".

Coquelin sadly picked up what appeared to be a hamstring injury, and was unable to return to the field forcing Arsenal to finish the match with 10 men.

Next up for Arsenal is their opening Europa League fixture against Bundesliga outfit Cologne.

Jack Wilshere continues his path to recovery and while he is starting to prove his fitness by playing for the Under-23s, he is still a fair distance away from being selected in the matchday squad while Santi Cazorla is not expected to be back before Christmas. "The fact that Francis is now out gives him a chance as well".
