BREAKING: Car hits people at Charlottesville rally - several injured
While Trump failed to publicly decry violent racists on Saturday, other conservative political figures said exactly what the president would not.
The US supremo did condemn violence "on many sides' following a terrible display of violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, but was blasted for failing to mention rioting neo-Nazis".
Police later identified the person who was arrested as James Alex Fields Jr., 20, of OH, and said he is charged with second-degree murder and other counts.
A 32-year-old woman was among those killed when a auto ploughed into a crowd, according to Charlottesville Police Chief Al Thomas, and injuries ranged from life-threatening to minor.
Shortly after, a Virginia State Police helicopter that officials said was assisting with the rally crashed outside Charlottesville, killing the pilot and a trooper. "We must all come together as Americans - and be one country UNITED", Ivanka wrote on Twitter.
"Because people were injured counter-protesting, I'm here to stand in solidarity with all those in the East Bay and here in Oakland", said Nick Travaglini.
The white nationalist group initially gathered in Charlottesville to protest plans to remove a statue of Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee while other groups arrived for a counter-protest.
On Friday, the white nationalists held lit torches and chanted "White lives matter" as they marched through the University of Virginia in the city. He did not specify when.
The deadly clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia have drawn across-the-board condemnation of violence and bigotry, including from US President Donald Trump, but even some Republicans are calling for the president to call out white supremacists by name.
About 15 people were injured after rival groups fought pitched battles using fists, rocks and pepper spray.
"There can be no doubt that the appalling display of white supremacy and hatred on display in Charlottesville today was the precipitator of the violence", said National Nurse Union executive director RoseAnn DeMoro.
"There is no place for you here".
President Trump spoke out about the violence in Charlottesville in a press conference Saturday afternoon.
Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke was in Charlottesville and called the demonstration a "turning point".
