News is breaking this afternoon that Liverpool'sPhilippe Coutinho has handed in a transfer request in the midst of interest from Barcelona.
Genoese publication Il Secolo XIX name the Reds along with AS Roma as a possible future club for the 24-year-old, who can play on the left wing or as an attacking midfielder.
Liverpool had not originally expected Coutinho to agitate to leave given the player's own wish to move to Camp Nou only if a deal could be agreed on amicable terms.
Barca have plenty of money to spend, having sold Coutinho's compatriot Neymar to Paris St Germain for a world-record fee last week.
Barca have also attempted to lure French forward Ousmane Dembele to the club from Borussia Dortmund but had their bid, reported by German media to be around 100 million euros, rejected by the Bundesliga side.
Coutinho, was signed by Liverpool for GBP8.5 million in January 2013 and signed a five-year deal which did not include buy-out clause.

The Reds ace has been ruled out with the back injury which has kept him out of training since last week.
