Taylor Swift's trial lawyer accuses Denver DJ of seeking money, fame

Taylor Swift's defense team digs into former DJ in cross-examination to kick off trial
Swift, one of the most successful contemporary music artists, earned $170 million between June 2015 and June 2016, following a world tour and her best-selling 1989 album, Forbes Magazine said. His lawsuit alleged that they reported the incident to his employers and pressured them to "do the right thing", leading to his termination. Mueller is seeking $3 million in damages.
Mueller may be intent on making his case, but Swift is sending a powerful message with her symbolic suit. and it isn't going unnoticed.
More than 30 potential jurors are due in federal court in Denver on Tuesday, and eight of them should be chosen by the afternoon.
Mueller said, "I thought he was just telling me one of his stories".
Her lawyer says she will be taking to the stand to declare she believes it was indeed assault, while David Mueller "unequivocally denies" any wrongdoing.
Taylor Swift's lawyers have told jurors they are not trying to bankrupt a former Colorado DJ accused of groping the pop star before a concert, but they want others to know "that you can always say no".
Swift is countersuing, claiming sexual assault.
Anticipating a large crowd of the singer's fans, known as "Swifties", the court designated 32 seats in the courtroom for the public.
About a dozen fans lined up outside the courthouse, including three high school students who showed up before dawn, for a pass allowing them inside to watch the civil trial.
"At nearly the same time that [Swift] said "Let's take a photo" or 'How about a photo, ' she put her right arm around Shannon [Melcher] and pulled her close, and the two of them turned toward the photographer, who was to Taylor's left and my left", he said.
Mueller's lawyer claimed that the photo shows his client's hand "is not underneath Miss Swift's skirt, and her skirt is not rumpled in any fashion". He said, "In the way you would say of Taylor, 'Why would you make that up?,' you would say the same about him".
"Do you have any opinion of singer Taylor Swift?".
But Swift's attorneys set out to cast the case as a sexual assault case - saying Swift was victimized and shaken by Mueller's alleged actions. Swift's attorney will continue his cross-examination of Mueller on Wednesday, then Mueller's witnesses will be called to testify.
But he also said that in the meeting Haskell and Call had called the next day, that he never told Call about what he says Haskell told him. He said that the accusations were "humiliating", but conceded that he could not come up with "any reason, incentive or motive" as to why Swift would make up such a claim.
Another man insisted he would be fair and impartial even though his wife runs "women's empowerment workshops". Swift's security team then approached Mueller, accused him of inappropriately touching the singer, and asked him to leave the arena.
Mueller said he drew that conclusion because Swift didn't welcome him into the photograph and paid more attention to his girlfriend.
Jury selection in the Taylor Swift civil case involving a groping claim has ended for the day and will resume Tuesday.
