Netflix has bought comic book publishing house Millarworld

Netflix makes its first ever acquisition with Millarworld purchase
A Scottish comic book firm has become the first company ever to be bought by Netflix after the United States entertainment giant described its founder as a "modern day Stan Lee".
The purchase of Millarworld - terms of which weren't disclosed - is a continuation of that strategy.
However Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos seems to have a lot of confidence in the deal with Millarworld, going so far as to call the comic book publisher's founder Mark Millar a "modern-day Stan Lee".
"The moment [Millar's wife] Lucy and I walked into Netflix's headquarters in California last Christmas, we knew this was where we wanted to be", he wrote. Millar's comic book writing for Marvel Comics has also heavily influenced the look, feel, and storylines of films including Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, and Logan.
Fans of Millarworld are familiar, but for those unaware, their comic book portfolio includes Kick-Ass, Kingsman, Wanted, and Reborn franchises, several of which have seen their own live-action movies do really well in the theaters.
Sarandos said new super-hero, anti-hero, sci-fi, fantasy and horror stories will be created.
Millarworld's collection of unique superhero scenarios will be made into movie and television show adaptions, available exclusively for Netflix members.
Millarworld has created 18 original character worlds since it started, including three that were turned into major films."Kick-Ass" even spawned a sequel. The streaming TV giant just acquired its very own comic book company with its purchase of Millarworld.
Having started his career in provocative fashion with controversial stories in British comic 2000AD, Scottish writer Millar went on to pen the enormously successful "Superman: Red Son" and other fiery takes on Marvel and DC characters.
The acquisition of Millarworld is likely financially immaterial to Netflix, Raymond James analyst Justin Patterson said via email.
Details of how much Netflix paid for Millarhouse have not been released. It will likely be the beginning of the Netflix cinematic universe.
