Trump blasts Jeff Sessions for not firing the acting FBI director
In his first public interview since President Donald Trump decided to make his less-than-charitable feelings toward Sessions a matter of public record, Sessions told Fox News's Tucker Carlson Thursday night that the way Trump has treated him lately has been "kind of hurtful".
In an interview with Fox News'Tucker Carlson, Sessions spoke for the first time about the president's broadsides against him, but maintained he would continue on in his job at the Department of Justice.
Trump also has bitterly complained about Mueller, who he has accused of leading a "witch hunt", and Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller and who is now supervising the probe.
Sessions said that he does not regret his decision to recuse himself from the Russian Federation investigation, which is what turned Trump against him. Graham, a Senate Judiciary Committee member from SC, stressed that there would be no confirmation hearing for a new attorney general in 2017 and that Trump should respect Sessions as a person who "deserves better".
United States media have said that White House aides have urged Trump to end his nearly daily broadsides against Sessions.
As I have written before, Jeff Sessions was never a friend of the Black Belt that - includes Macon County - in his 20 years in the U.S. Senate or in his role as a U.S. Attorney. "He wants him to focus on things like immigration, leaks and a number of other issues, and I think that's what his focus is at this point". Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) said Thursdaythere would be "holy hell to pay" if Trump did it.
President Donald Trumptold Boy Scouts on Monday that loyalty is important. Trump is scheduled to make that speech Friday in Long Island, New York, where MS-13 members are believed to have been involved in more than a dozen deaths since January 2016. "I can feel the movement that we are doing".
Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation investigation after calls for it. "The president wants the attorney general to focus on his duties as attorney general".
The public criticism of Sessions by Trump has persisted for weeks. "I don't think it's going over well in the conservative world".
Livid Trump fumes as Obamacare repeal fails
Graham, R-S.C., and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., wanted Ryan to launch broad House-Senate negotiations for a wider rollback of the law. Along with Murkowski and Collins, he then voted against defunding Planned Parenthood and axing Obamacare on July 26 .
Trump Continues To Publicly Attack Sessions
President Donald Trump has railed against leaks, many of them damaging to him and the administration, ever since he took office. We urge Trump to stop embarrassing himself by attacking this good man and to simply allow him do the job he was appointed to do.
