The 2009 British Open victor made his first appearance at the U.S. Open in three years, having secured a qualifying spot at the Columbus, Ohio, sectional.
Navigating tricky conditions with pure ball-striking, Koepka pulled away from a battle with Harman to complete 72 holes in 16-under 272, tying the championship scoring record in relation to par that Rory McIlroy set in 2011 at Congressional Country Club.
Ahead of what promises to be a gripping Sunday showdown at Erin Hills, we take a look at those best placed to break new ground by taking the title.
The thrilling finish vaulted Thomas into the clubhouse lead on 11 under late in the third round but American Ben Harman shot a 5-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead going into last round.
On Saturday, Justin Thomas tied the record for the best round at a major by shooting 63.
Koepka also became the third American to win the U.S. Open after Dustin Johnson's victory at Oakmont previous year and Jordan Spieth's win at Chambers Bay in 2015.
Today, the 18th, whether it be watching a birdie, bogey or more history being made, will serve as a tribute. They spend time a lot of time together on the course, in the gym and at home, so Koepka has seen that U.S. Open trophy plenty at Johnson's house in south Florida. He dropped nine shots over the next seven holes - three double bogeys, three bogeys and one par. "Not your typical U.S. Open setup, but I'm a big fan". He ends his weekend at Erin Hills at 1 over. "I've been there a handful of times and had some good finishes, but I'm looking forward to getting the job done".
Spieth had a nice day considering how the winds have picked up at Erin Hills.
Brian Harman is the 54-hole leader, but he is not the betting favourite to win a wide-open Open. He two-putted for birdie, and he rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the 17th.
And throughout the week, a number of golfers weighed in on the course - from the top-10 players in the world to amateurs that competed in the event after qualifying. The final-round average was 77.2, and 20 players shot in the 80s.
"It looks as though the weather conditions are going to be a lot more challenging today at Erin Hills", Kite said. He's just like Dustin, I would say. Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Tommy Fleetwood are tied for second, one shot back.
Spieth went out early Sunday and battled the toughest conditions of the week, but he managed to card five birdies despite winds that gusted upwards of 30 miles per hour.
He was two back of Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson heading into the last round at the 2014 Masters but shot 73 and never threatened.
Still hanging around was Rickie Fowler, who made 15-foot birdie putts on both par 5s to atone for some wild driving early on in which he had to scramble for pars.
Spieth entered the week ranked fifth in the world and fifth in the PGA Tour's season-long FedEx Cup standings, but he knows he and other top players are measured by how they perform in the majors.
Pakistan defeat India to win Champions Trophy
I am sure it is going to be jam-packed in Pakistan , the roads will be full and I can't wait to go home. Claiming Dhawan and Sharma's wicket early will go a long way to giving Pakistan a sniff at the title.
Thomas sets Open mark with 9-under 63; Harman leads
He still built a six-shot lead through 36 holes, despite hitting his tee shot into the ocean on the 18th hole and salvaging bogey. But he is the only one who carries the label of being the best player never to have won a major. "But it isn't a U.S.
Portugal and Mexico draw 2-2 in Confederations Cup
The team said that he couldn't go because he was receiving post-game treatment, although it said it wasn't anything serious. After the match , the Colombian was pleased with the performance, stating that perhaps they even deserved to win.
Sixers will acquire No. 1 pick to draft Markelle Fultz
That's how highly I think of Fultz. "I had some stuff going on with my knee - I don't really want to address it", Fultz said. Fultz ended his freshman season averaging 23.2 points, 5.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.
