Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey in May after Rosenstein authored a memo advising him to do so.
The special counsel appointed to investigate Russian influence in the 2016 presidential campaign is now examining whether President Donald Trump tried to obstruct justice, it has been reported. Mueller also has expansive powers to investigate any matters that develop from his initial investigation.
The Washington Post, citing unidentified officials, reported on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating the Republican President for possible obstruction of justice.
Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday to insist that despite months of investigating, no proof has emerged that he colluded with Russian Federation to tilt the 2016 presidential election in his favor.
Vnesheconombank says that Gorkov's meeting with Kushner was to discuss real estate business, of which the president's son-in-law was the head. Trump conceded in an interview after the episode that he was thinking about the Russian Federation controversy when he made that decision.
In fact, Rosenstein recently testified that he believes he is the only person who can fire Mueller and that he believes he's only permitted to do so for "good cause" (meaning not on a presidential whim). "That's undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president's oath of office".
Brand was sworn in as associate attorney general on May 22. Comey's firing likely will be part of that probe.
"I've talked with Director Mueller about this", Rosenstein told AP.
One White House official said Trump doesn't think the tweets will have any legal ramifications against him.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reported on June 16 that the general counsel's office of Trump's transition team has ordered staff to preserve all materials relating to Russian Federation or Ukraine, including any possible travel documents.
It cited five people briefed on the requests by Mr. Mueller's team who spoke on condition of anonymity. Trump has disputed both claims, saying flatly that he never askedComey to drop the Flynn probe.
The Justice Department's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election is looking at Kushner's multiple roles in the Trump administration, including the Trump campaign's 2016 data analytics operation; his relationship with former national security adviser Michael Flynn; and Kushner's own contacts with Russians, according to USA officials briefed on the probe.
Inside the White House, a sense of foreboding has taken hold on even the most junior staff and up to the Oval Office, as news emerged that Vice President Mike Pence has hired a high-powered outside counsel to represent him.
Previously, it was reported that Kushner worked to establish a secret channel of communication between Moscow and the Trump team during the post-election transition phase.
Manafort, Page and Stone have also been linked to the Russian Federation investigations.

76ers and Celtics agree to deal for No 1 pick
The Pacers have made clear that Paul George isn't on the block at this point, and it'd take more than the pick just to get him. However, none of them are notably better than the other and one of them will be available at No. 4 overall draft pick.
